Herb Brooks National Hockey Center A-Z Guide

Please refer to this A to Z guide for important information regarding venue policies, general information, and answers to Frequently Asked Questions for spectator events hosted at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
A-K
Accessible Services
Guests looking to purchase accessible tickets for the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center can call the Ticket Office at 320-308-2137.
Accessible parking and drop-off are available in the first row of South K Lot with a valid disabled parking certificate.
Elevators are located throughout the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center and access all public areas of the arena. Should you need assistance in reaching your seat, please contact a Guest Services staff member.
Accessible seating is located in sections 110, 117, and 119. Additional chairs can be provided, ask any Herb Brooks National Hockey Center staff member for assistance.
All concession stands, drinking fountains, ATMs and restrooms throughout the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center are accessible.
Trained service animals assisting guests with disabilities are permitted inside the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center and must remain on a leash or harness at all times. Advance notice is preferred and is best indicated to the ticket office upon purchasing tickets. Service animals may not use additional seats unless an additional ticket has been purchased. All other animals are prohibited.
Wheelchair escorts are available for guests who may require additional assistance to and from their seats. A pre-arranged escort will meet a guest at the designated door and assist the guest to their seat. At the conclusion of the event, an escort will return to the guest’s seat and escort them to the nearest exit. Please note the escort will not remain with the guest during the event, nor will the wheelchair be left with the guest during the event. This service is for transport needs only. Transportation is not permitted outside the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
Guests looking for additional accommodations can submit a request with St. Cloud State University through the Office for Institutional Equity and Access. The request can be submitted online at the following website https://www.stcloudstate.edu/oea/policies/ada/ra-request-public.aspx or by calling 320-308-5123. Requests must be made at least 10 business days prior to the event.
Aisle Policy
The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center is committed to creating a safe, comfortable and enjoyable game experience. Please be aware of our “Wait for a Whistle” policy that requires guests to refrain from accessing their seat until the play has paused. This policy enables guests to enjoy an unobscured view of the event.
Alcohol
The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center follows the Minnesota state law that prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21.
- Proof of age for purchasing or consuming alcoholic beverages may be established only by one of the following:
- A valid driver’s license issued by Minnesota, another state or Canada including the photograph and date of birth of the person.
- Valid identification card issued by Minnesota, another state or Canada, including the photograph and date of birth of the person.
- A valid military ID issued by the U.S. Department of Defense
- A valid passport issued by the United States
- In the case of a foreign national, a valid passport.
Clipped IDs with papers will not be accepted as a form of valid identification.
Valid forms of ID must be presented at the ID check tables in exchange for a wristband. No alcohol will be sold to persons without a wristband. The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center may confiscate suspected false ID cards. Confiscated cards will be turned over to the St. Cloud Police Department within 24 hours.
Alcohol service may be discontinued at any time at the discretion of management.
ATMs
There are two ATMs in the HBNHC. One is located in the main lobby next to the ticket office and the second is located on the southwest concourse level.
Baby Changing Stations
Baby changing stations are in all public restrooms within the arena. Guest services located in the southwest corner of the concourse is also available.
Bag Policy
Fans are encouraged to leave non-essential items at home. Guests may bring the following bags into the arena:
- Bags that do not exceed 12” x 12” x 6” or a clear, resealable, plastic storage bag that is a maximum one gallon.
- Small bags, such as a small clutch purse that does not exceed 5” x 8” will be allowed.
- Parenting bags that do not exceed 18” x 14” x 8", child must enter with bag, and all diaper bags may be tagged at the discretion of Herb Brooks National Hockey Center Staff.
- Approved medical bags
- Guests with bags not meeting guidelines will be asked to return them to a vehicle. The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center is not responsible for items left at any of the gates.
- All guests with bags larger than 5" x 8" will be required to enter through the bag check line at the southwest ticketing entrance of the HBNHC.
All bags and purses are subject to inspection when entering the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center or at any time while inside the arena by SCSU Public Safety or The St. Cloud Police Department.
Banners & Signs
Banners and signs are permitted inside the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. To ensure that these articles do not impede the experience of guests, banners and signs must meet the following guidelines:
- Banners/signs should be no larger than 24” x 24”
- Banners/signs should in no way infringe on the sightlines of other guests.
- Banners/signs may not be commercial, political, derogatory or obscene.
- Signs must be handheld and not utilize other objects for support.
- Banners/signs cannot be affixed to building surfaces within the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
- Banners/signs must fit underneath a guest’s seat
The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center Staff reserves the right to remove any banner or sign.
Camera Policy
The following are general rules of camera use and are subject to change at any time based on the event:
- Non-flash, still cameras with lenses not exceeding 4 inches in length are permitted.
- Videography is prohibited
- Audio recording devices are prohibited
- Tripods and other photography equipment are prohibited.
- Computers, laptops or tablets are prohibited.
The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center reserves the right to deny camera, video, and audio recording at any time. Failure to comply with the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center Camera Policy may result in ejection from the facility.
Credentialled Staff or Media are exempt from the Camera Policy. Media credentials may be advanced through the Athletic Communications Department at 320-308-5400, emailing andrew.melroe@stcloudstate.edu, or visiting scsuhuskies.com.
Code of Conduct
The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, comfortable and enjoyable experience. Guests can expect an environment in which they will be treated in a consistent, professional, and courteous manner. Accordingly, guests are responsible for their own conduct.
The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center has established these standards with respect to guest conduct:
- Respecting guests, league personnel, student athletes, and arena staff
- Consuming alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner
- Refraining from fighting, horseplay, excessive taunting, intimidating or threatening remarks or gestures
- Refrain from use of profanity, racial or sexist comments
- Not creating a disruption to the progress of the event by behavior that is unruly, disruptive, or illegal
- Following instructions from arena staff regarding arena operations and emergency procedures
- Allowing guests to be free to support their team while remaining respectful and courteous to their fellow peers, referees, or opposing team fans and players.
Guests with behavior deemed inappropriate may be removed from the arena. Guests are encouraged to report any inappropriate behavior to Herb Brooks National Hockey Center staff.
Concessions
St. Cloud State University is partnered with Chartwells, to provide our guests with a variety of concession and catering options. For more information about food options and nutritional information contact Chartwells at dineoncampus.com/stcloud or 320-308-4499.
There are four (4) concession stands in the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Two (2) on the north concourse and two (2) on the south concourse.
Alcohol sales (including beer, spirits, and wine) end during the third period of SCSU Men’s Hockey games.
Concession Stands no longer accepts cash.
Elevators
Two elevators are in the Atrium of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Both elevators service all 4 levels of the HBNHC. A single service elevator is located on the North Side of the building in the practice rink lobby. This elevator services the press level, concourse level and practice rink lobby.
Emergencies
In the event of an emergency, Herb Brooks National Hockey Center Staff have been trained and instructed to assist guests with evacuating the arena. Guests should familiarize themselves with their location and identify the emergency exits closest to their seat location.
Exit and Re-entry
The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center has a “No Re-Entry Policy” which means guests may not exit the building during an event and then re-enter the building later. To gain access to the building, guests must present a valid, unused ticket, or appropriate credentials.
Field of Play
Guests may not enter the ice surface without the expressed permission of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Violators will be ejected from the arena.
Guests are not permitted to grab, climb, or hang from arena shielding, to include player benches, penalty box area and scorer’s bench location.
Fans are prohibited from throwing items* onto the ice surface. Any person caught throwing items within the arena will be immediately ejected and subject to further disciplinary action.
*Except for hats to recognize the celebration of a hat trick.
First Aid
The first-aid station is located at guest services in the southwest corner of the concourse level. SCSU Public Safety Officers are first aid certified and present to assist all guests. Contact a Herb Brooks National Hockey Center staff member for assistance.
Gate Opening Times
Gates to the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center will open one (1) hour prior to puck drop of SCSU Men’s and Women’s Hockey Games. Official game times can be found at scsuhuskies.com.
Guest Services
Guest services located in the southwest corner of the concourse level, is staffed with a knowledgeable guest service attendant.
Hearing Protection
Guests are welcome to bring ear plugs and/or noise cancelling headphones into the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Complimentary ear plugs are offered at Guest Services located in the southwest corner of the concourse level.
Husky Den Policy
Husky Den access is limited to those with a valid Husky Den ticket or valid University Credential. Tickets can be purchased at the Ticket Office located in the atrium of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
All prepared food must remain inside the Husky Den during events.
The Husky Den is open one (1) hour prior to puck drop and closes at the beginning of the third period for all SCSU Men’s home games.
Intermission Activities
Fans are selected at random to participate in any in-game contest. We do not allow fans to sign up in advance. To increase your chances of being selected, arrive early to the game and wear Huskies gear!
Anyone selected to participate during an on-ice promotion will be required to sign a waiver.
L-Z
Lactation Accommodations
Lactation space is available within the HBNHC. Please visit Guest Services for accommodations.
Lost and Found
All lost and found items will be turned into Guest Services during events. To inquire about an item after an event, please call 320-308-3327 during regular business hours. The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Lost Children
If a child is lost or separated from their group, the child should ask the nearest Herb Brooks National Hockey Center staff member for help. A lost child will be taken to Guest Services in the southwest corner of the concourse level. Parents looking for a child should follow the same procedure. Children who retain their ticket stub are much easier to reunite with their group.
The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center has Code Adam protocols in place and will coordinate with HBNHC Staff, Public Safety and the St. Cloud Police Department in the case of a lost child.
Merchandise/Souvenirs
Official SCSU merchandise and souvenirs can be purchased on the south concourse, within the Husky Den of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
Parking/Directions
The parking lot directly south of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center will be pre-paid parking only. Parking passes can be purchased for the entire season or single games in advance at scsutickets.com or by calling the Ticket Office at 320-308-2137.

Post Game Traffic Plan
SCSU Public Safety and the St. Cloud Police Department handle the traffic egress at the conclusion of SCSU Men's Hockey games. Below is a map of the traffic plan.
- Traffic exiting out of the west gate onto 4th Ave S, must turn right and head north towards University Drive.
- Traffic exiting from any of the east gates on to 3rd Ave S can turn left to head through campus or right towards 15th Street S
- Traffic leaving from 15th Street S onto 4th Ave S, must turn left to head south towards Clearwater Rd.
- No traffic will be allowed out of the South Gate from the parking lot.

Prohibited Items
The following items are prohibited and may not be brought into the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center:
- Alcoholic beverages, cans, bottles, and coolers
- Tobacco products, including cigarettes, chewing tobacco, e-cigarettes, & vapor devices
- Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia
- Outside food, snacks, and beverages
- Video Cameras or Professional Cameras
- Non-service animals
- Weapons and Firearms (except as permitted by Minnesota State Law)
- Aerosols
- Balloons
- Laser Pointers
- Noise makers of any kind
- Umbrellas larger than 18 inches in length when collapsed
- Spandex unitards with closed face masks hiding person’s identity
- Any other items deemed inappropriate or dangerous by arena staff, SCSU Public Safety or St. Cloud Police Department.
St. Cloud State University reserves the right to conduct safety checks as deemed necessary including the search of bags, jackets, clothing, and other items. All items are subject to removal at the discretion of SCSU Public Safety and the St. Cloud Police Department.

Scoreboard Birthday Messages
For advanced submission of scoreboard birthday messages contact the Marketing and Promotions Department of St. Cloud State University Athletics at 320-308-3101.
Day of birthday announcements should be brought to Guest Services located in the southwest corner of the concourse level by the start of the second period. Announcements will be made during the second intermission.
Security Screening
St. Cloud State University’s Public Safety Department will be conducting security screenings upon entrance to the venue.
- Guests entering the arena through the south ticketing entrance will be required to pass through walk-through metal detectors upon entry.
- Guests entering the arena through the north ticketing entrance will be subject to wand screening.
- All guests with bags larger than 5" x 8" will be required to enter through the bag check line at the southwest ticketing entrance of the HBNHC.
To expedite the screening process, the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center encourages guests to leave all non-essential items at home.
Smoking
St. Cloud State University is a tobacco free campus. As part of St. Cloud State University, the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center is a tobacco free facility. Smoking anywhere in the building or on university property is prohibited. Guests are not allowed to exit and re-enter for the purpose of smoking. This includes the use of electronic cigarettes, smokeless cigarettes, chewing tobacco, and/or vapor devices as well as traditional cigarettes. Violators may be subject to removal from the facility and/or denied admittance.
Strollers
Guests are encouraged to bring a collapsible stroller that can fit under their seat. Guests are allowed to leave their strollers at Guest Services.
Student Seating
Student seating sections are 108, 109, 110, 207, 208, and 209.
Ticket Office
The Athletics Ticket Office is in the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. The Ticket Office opens one (1) hour prior to game time and closes at the beginning of the third period. Tickets may be purchased online at scsutickets.com or by calling 320-308-2137.
Group Tickets: Group tickets are available for SCSU hockey games. Call the Ticket Office for group ticket pricing.
Tickets for Children: Children younger than two (2) years of age do not require a ticket if held on the lap of an accompanying adult.
Fraudulent Tickets:
scsutickets.com is the only authorized ticket seller of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
If a guest purchases tickets from a secondary ticket market or third-party website (ticket brokers, Craigslist, eBay, StubHub, Facebook, Ticketmaster, etc.) there is a risk that the tickets may be fraudulent. Fraudulent tickets will NOT be honored, and the ticket holder may be turned away.

Wi-Fi
The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center has free, venue-wide Wi-Fi available for all events. Guests can easily connect to the Wi-Fi network by selecting SCSU_Public from the connection options appearing on their device.
