ST. CLOUD, MINN. – The St. Cloud State University volleyball team will look a little taller during the upcoming 2018 season. The Huskies announced the addition of outside hitters Chloe Dousette (St. Paul, Minn. / Cretin-Derham Hall) and Linsey Rachel (Maple Lake, Minn. / Maple Lake) to the roster of the incoming recruiting class of 2018-19.
"We are excited to add Linsey and Chloe to our 2018 roster," volleyball head coach Chad Braegelmann announced in a recent statement. "Both bring a history of team success with them, as well as a combination of athleticism and high volleyball IQ."
Rachel joins St. Cloud State after an impressive career at Maple Lake High School. As an outside hitter, Rachel was a five-time All-Conference First Team honoree and was voted the team's Most Valuable Player for five consecutive years. She earned Class AA All-State Honorable Mention honors as a ninth grader and was First Team All-State her sophomore through senior seasons. Additionally, Rachel guided Maple Lake to three State Tournament appearances, including back-to-back state championships in 2016 and 2017, and was a Ms. Baden Finalist and Breakdown Sport USA Class AA Player-of-the-Year as a senior in 2017.
"Linsey excelled during her time at Maple Lake as a 6-rotation outside hitter that has very good ball control, jumps well and hits the ball with pace and range," Braeglemann said in a statement. "We are looking forward to seeing her compete at the college level and watch her growth."
Dousette joins the Huskies' volleyball program after playing collegiate volleyball for two years at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. During her career with Nebraska-Omaha, Dousette was named to the All-Newcomer team in 2016 after averaging 3.00 kills per set while hitting .236 from the outside. She also tallied nine double-figure kill games for the Mavericks and led the team in kills in 10 matches during her rookie season. Prior to her time at Nebraska-Omaha, Dousette was a two-time captain and four-year letter winner at Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul, Minnesota.
"Chloe has some high-level volleyball with her time at Cretin-Derham Hall and with Northern Lights, as well as her time at Nebraska-Omaha," Braeglemann commented. "Her length and arm make her a threat in the front row and the plan is to train her at both pins as both an outside hitter and opposite. The experience she brings will definitely make us a better team and we eager to get her to St. Cloud and start working with her in the fall."
The Huskies will open the 2018 season in Hilo, Hawaii as they compete in the Hawaii Hilo Tournament August 23-25.
