Women’s Basketball Continues Winning Streak on Road at Upper Iowa

The Huskies were lead offensively by the scoring efforts of Madelin Dammann, who shot 7-11 from the field and 2-3 from three-point range to score a game-high of 18 points. Amanda Christianson and Mallie Doucette each totaled 11 points while Brianna Johnson recorded seven rebounds. Tori Wortz led the Huskies' defensive efforts by recording two blocks and three steals in the contest. SCSU's bench play was phenomenal, accounting for 24 of the team's 69 points.
Upper Iowa was carried by their leading scorer, Natalie Dinius, who shot 4-15 from the field and scored 10 points. The Peacocks shot 88.9 percent from the free-throw line which allowed them to chip away at the Huskies' lead in the second half. The Peacocks outscored the Huskies 11-8 in the fourth quarter.
St. Cloud State shot 46.7 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range. The Huskies brought down 34 rebounds and shared the wealth effectively with 16 total assists. SCSU found success in limiting turnovers on offense and playing stellar defense by recording 11 steals. The Peacocks shot 32.1 percent from the field and 23.8 percent from three-point range.
SCSU went into halftime with a 40-21 lead over the Peacocks and eventually led by 27 going into the fourth quarter. St. Cloud State was able to control the lead for the entire contest where they eventually found themselves leading by 31 points with under a minute to play in the third quarter.
St. Cloud State women's basketball will travel to Winona, Minnesota to take on the Warriors of Winona State University on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 4 PM.
