Volleyball Has Four Named to 2017 Cougar Classic All-Tournament Team

San Marcos, Calif. – St. Cloud State's volleyball team (5-0) had four players named to the 2017 Cougar Classic All-Tournament Team following the last match of the tournament. Senior Becca Gruber, senior Nicole Miller, junior Krista Kuglin and sophomore Clara Krenz were four of the 12 players chosen by the coaches in the tournament as earning a place on the All-Tournament Team. SCSU didn't drop even a single set in winning all four matches in the tournament and have started the season with a 5-0 record for the first time since 1985.
Gruber led the team with 44 kills, while hitting .385. She averaged 3.67 kills per set and also picked up five blocks in the 12 sets played.
Miller produced 39 kills (an average of 3.25 per set), while hitting .221. She also led the team with her seven service aces and ranked second on the team with 50 digs (4.17 per set).
Kuglin totaled 29 kills (an average of 2.42 per set), while hitting .246. She also totaled five digs and two blocks.
Krenz led the squad with her 74 digs (6.17 per set). She also had 15 assists and five service aces.

The St. Cloud State volleyball team next makes the trip to Houghton, Michigan to play in the Keweenew Classic hosted by Michigan Tech from Sept. 8-9. The Huskies take on Wisconsin Parkside at 1:30 p.m. and Michigan Tech at 7:30 p.m. on the opening day. The program takes on Northern Michigan at 1 p.m. and Lake Superior State at 5 p.m. on the second day. Live stats for the matches can be found here
