Hello and welcome to the unofficial-official inside look at St. Cloud State Baseball's Regional Tournament journey in Emporia, Kansas. My name is Zach Siggelkow and I am currently a redshirt sophomore pitcher for the Huskies.
I will be providing Husky fans with updates throughout our postseason run in hopes that you all will enjoy this opportunity as much as we are. If you do not feel like reading, or are more of an "on-the-go-husky-baseball-fan" feel free to follow us on Snapchat @Scsu_bb for more updates.
Our journey began at 8 AM sharp, which was also the time when our usual team bus games started and woke up anyone who was hoping to sneak in an extra hour of sleep before our arrival at the MSP airport.
Upon our arrival at MSP, we successfully learned how to navigate an escalator as a team. After learning this essential life skill, we witnessed our trainer Kenna, check in a 95-pound bag of medical supplies. Kudos to Kenna for wheeling that mini-hospital around MSP.
We eventually boarded our flight and yes, we did receive complimentary pretzels. Â Also, yes there was one baby who was able to take one for the team and did not cry during the flight. Shout out to that baby!
After recovering from the jet-lag of the one-hour flight from MSP to Kansas City, Missouri – the boys enjoyed some KC style barbeque. While we all thought the quality barbeque would be the only surprise we would enjoy before arriving in Emporia, Coach Dolan had one more trick up his sleeve…
Coach Dolan ordered Harry, our bus driver, to circumnavigate Kauffman Stadium (Home of the Kansas City Royals) for us to capitalize on the photo-ops of the stadium from the highway. After posting copious Snapchat "stories" for our friends back home, we all noticed the bus was inching dangerously close to Kauffman Stadium. Then, Harry stopped the bus outside of the main gate. Coach Dolan then announced we would be taking in the Royals vs. Yankees 7:15 game as a team.
The trip to Kauffman Stadium was one that none of us will forget. However, I can confirm that Target Field is still the nicest stadium in the MLB.
Be sure to check back on our website and social media platforms for more SCSU Huskies updates from the road.
