St. Cloud State women's hockey announces new recruits for 2015-16

St. Cloud State University women's hockey coach Eric Rud has announced the signing of four student-athletes to letters of intent to attend the University and play hockey for the Huskies beginning in 2015-16.
This group includes freshmen forwards Julia Tylke (Delafield, Wisc./Chicago Young Americans) and Suvi Ollikainen (Klaukkala, Finland/KJT Club) along with transfer goaltenders Madeleine Dahl (Edina, Minn./Union College) and Taylor Crosby (Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia/Northeastern). These four players will join incoming freshmen Hannah Potrykus (Brighton, Mich.); Megan Lalor (St. Albert, Alberta), Jordan Stewart (Machesney Park, Ill.) and Ivy Dynek (Northfield, Ill.) to complete the Huskies' recruit class for 2015-16.
Taylor Crosby:
A resident of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Crosby is a transfer from Northeastern University, where she was a redshirt athlete during the 2014-15 season. Crosby played prep hockey at Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault, Minn.  In 2013-14, Crosby posted a 1.73 goals against average and a .913 save rate at Shattuck-St. Mary's and she owned a 1.93 GAA in 2012-13.
"We are very excited to have an athlete with this much experience and character coming into our program. Taylor (Crosby) will be an excellent addition to our program in every way," Rud said.
At Shattuck-St. Mary's, Crosby helped her team make four trips to the nationals and finished as the national runner-up in 2013-14. She has been part of the Hockey Nova Scotia program and was picked for the U17 team. Crosby participated in the Hockey Canada U18 camp in 2013, and attended the IIHF performance camp in Sheffield, England. An honor student at Shattuck-St. Mary's, Crosby played softball for the Eastern Canadians and also swam for the Colby Sailfish team.
She is the daughter of Troy and Trina Crosby of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. Crosby's older brother Sidney Crosby plays professional hockey for the Pittsburgh Penguins. She intends to major in mass communications and minor in business at St. Cloud State.
Madeleine Dahl:
A resident of Edina, Minn., Dahl is a transfer from Union College. She took a medical redshirt season in 2014-15 but played there for two seasons in 2012-13 and 2013-14. In 2013-14, Dahl played in seven games with a 2.91 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. In 2012-13, Dahl played in five games for Union with a 2.54 goals against rate and a .925 save percentage.
"Maddie (Dahl) is a very mature young women who has overcome injuries and is really looking forward to getting back on the ice while also pursuing her passion academically in the sciences field," Rud said.
Dahl attended the USA Hockey Select 16 and Select 17 camps and was a standout at Edina High School. She earned All-Conference, All-Metro and All-State accolades in 2011-12 and made three consecutive Minnesota state high school league tournament appearances. She was a runner-up for Senior Goalie of the Year honors in 2012.
The daughter of Jeffrey and Jennifer Dahl, she intends to major in Medical Laboratory Science at SCSU.
Suvi Ollikainen
A resident of Klaukkala, Finland, Ollikainen is a forward who most recently played for the KJT hockey club in the Finnish Senior League in 2014-15. From 2011 to 2014, Ollikainen played for Team Kuortane.
"Suvi (Ollikainen) is a smart 2 way player who can help us in a lot of different situations. She has played against the best in the world in international play and will be ready for the WCHA," Rud said.
She played for the U18 Finnish National Team from 2010 to 2013 and played in three world championships. In 2014-15,Ollikainen was part of the Finnish Senior National Team that played in the Four Nations Cup in Kamloops, B.C. Ollikainen is the daughter of Harri and Mirja .
Julia Tylke
A forward from Delafield, Wisc., Tylke is a graduate of Kettle Morraine H.S. She played hockey with the Chicago Young Americans club and scored 22 goals and 25 assists for her squad during the last three seasons.
"We are always trying to find players who are creative offensively and with Julia (Tylke) we feel we are bringing in a player with elite puck skill and has tremendous offensive upside," Rud said.
With the Young Americans, Tylke was part of teams that advanced to the national championship quarterfinals in 2012 and 2015. She intends to major in athletic training at St. Cloud State.
The Huskies will begin their 2015-16 season on Sept. 26 with a 7:07 p.m. home exhibition game against the Minnesota Whitecaps. St. Cloud State's regular season will get under way with a pair of road games at Merrimack on Oct. 2-3 in North Andover, Mass.
