
Women's Hockey Adds Two Commitments for Fall 2013

Alexandra Makaric - Makaric, a 5'11" defenseman and member of the Cambridge Rivulettes PWHL as she played three years with the team. During her final season she appeared in 38 regular season games posting four goals at which two were on power-plays as well as recorded eight assists as a defenseman. She also appeared in 10 playoff games her final season recording two assists. A graduate of St. Joseph's Catholic High School, Makaric plans to major in Biochemistry at St. Cloud State. Alexandra is the daughter of Barry and Tammy Makaric.
"Alex is a strong physical defenseman that likes to be involved in the offensive attack," said head coach Jeff Giese "She has good skills and skates very well, which helps her be very responsible defensively. She has played in the highly competitive PWHL for the Cambridge Rivulettes, which is the top league in Ontario."
Christa Moody - Moody, a 5'9" defenseman played four years for the HoneyBaked 19U (HPHL) team in Detroit, Michigan. She has many accolades as a defenseman as well as team accomplishments on the ice. Moody was a member of the 16U HoneyBaked National Championship team and is a three-time State Champion Michigan Amateur Hockey Association. In her final season with HoneyBaked her team posted a 49-10-3 record on the season. She also played softball in high school as her team was a two-time Harper Creek Softball League and District Champions. Was named All-City, All-Region, All-Conference, and Academic All-State honors in softball. She was a role model off the ice as well being an Honor Student throughout high school, a member of the National Honor Society, member of the Student Council, and an international qualifier in DECA. Moody plans to major in Finance at St. Cloud State. Christa is the daughter of Kevin and Karen Moody.
"Christa has good size, a very good vision, and makes good decisions with the puck," says head coach Jeff Giesen. "She played in a very good program in Detroit and was coached by Tom Anastos, the Michigan State men's hockey coach."
Coach Jeff Giesen says, "We are excited to add these players to our Husky family as they will help our team continue to climb in the very difficult Western Collegiate Hockey Conference (WCHA)."
