SCSU Soccer Rolls Over Moorhead, 4-1

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's soccer team finished the weekend at home against Minnesota State University Moorhead Sunday afternoon. The Huskies went out on top on parent's day at Husky Stadium defeating the Dragons, 4-1.
St. Cloud came out looking for a win after Saturday's game taking a 1-0 lead at 22:16 with seniors connecting as Kate Hanzlik headed the ball into the net off a corner kick by Kara Dahmen.
The Huskies would extend their lead 2-0 at the 30:31 mark of the game with an unassisted goal by Dahmen for her third of the season.
With St. Cloud controlling the ball and keeping it down in Dragon territory they would take a 3-0 lead in halftime. Junior Taige Thoreson rebounded a shot that was saved by the Moorhead goalkeeper to shoot it into the left side for the unassisted goal.
It was not until the 63:55 mark of the game when Moorhead got on the board sneaking one past SCSU's goalie making it a 3-1 game. The Dragons' Stephanie Lindo scored the goal.
The Huskies came back though to seal a 4-1 victory over the Dragons at 73:46 as Haley Greving bounced one off the left post to go into the net for her first goal of the season. An assist was charted to Naomi Kohlhoff on the goal.
Sophomore Brittany Plombon posted five saves in the net for the Huskies win, while Moorhead's Ashley Leintz recorded 10 saves. Plombon improves her season record to 8-7-1 with the win. St. Cloud led shots by a margin of 25-12 in the game.
In between halves the Huskies took the opportunity to recognize their parents for their dedication and support to the SCSU soccer program.
St. Cloud State (8-7-1, 5-7-1 NSIC) will be back in action for their final two regular season games on November 1 & 3 as they travel to Minnesota Crookston Friday and end at home Sunday against Bemidji State. Game times are set for a 3 p.m. and 1 p.m. start time respectively.
