SCSU Swimming and Diving Defeat UW-Eau Claire and Stevens Point

St. Cloud, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished in first place after hosting the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point through 32 events this afternoon. The St. Cloud State men won the double dual beating UW-Stevens Point 161 to 130 and trumping UW-Eau Claire 190 to 101.
The St. Cloud State women won the double dual as they were victorious over UW-Stevens Point 161 to 127 and beat UW-Eau Claire 177 to 111.
Head Coach Jeff Hegle recapped the day stating, "I was very pleased with the way we competed today. We are working extremely hard during the week and to still be able to perform well says a lot about our student-athletes."
St. Cloud State finished today's double dual winning 22 total events. Both the men's and women's Huskies swam exhibition the final six events.
Furthermore, the diving for this double dual took place at UW- Eau Claire this morning. St. Cloud State had four first-place diving performances. Tori Raihle (Spring Lake Park) won the women's 1 meter dive. Luke Weber (Mankato) won the men's 1 meter dive. Emily McIntire (Sartell) finished first in the women's 3 meter dive while Aaron Rooney (Alexandria) placed first in the men's 3 meter dive.
Kellyn Craig (Denver, Colo.) finished the day with three first place finishes. Craig won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.53. She took home first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.92 and won the 200 yard breaststroke in 2:25.51.
Bob Simson (St. Cloud) also finished today's dual with three first place finishes. Simson was a member of the first place 200 yard medley relay squad. He also won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 54.23 and the 200 yard backstroke in 1:59.39.
Napoleon Howell (St. Augustine, Trinidad) had three first place finishes as well. Howell was a member of the first place 200 yard medley relay squad. Howell also placed first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time 58.12 and won the 200 yard breastroke in 2:08.55.
Alex Bryson (Appleton, Wis.) won the men's 1000 free in 9:44.58. The second place finishing time was 10:15.38. Bryson also won the 500 free in 4:38.48.
St. Cloud State men's and women's swimming and diving will return to action on Nov. 3 as they travel to Northfield, Minn. to compete in the Carleton College Invite.
