SCSU's Katie Kotschevar Named NSIC Player of the Week

St. Cloud State junior Katie Kotschevar (Monticello, Minn./H.S.) has been selected as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's tennis player of the week on April 8.
Kotschevar posted a 3-0 record in singles play and a 3-0 record at first doubles to help the Huskies gain NSIC victories last week against Minnesota State, Minnesota Crookston and Sioux Falls. In play at second singles, Kotschevar rolled to a 6-3, 6-3 win over Minnesota State's Kelly Lechowski. In play at number one singles against Minnesota Crookston's Holly Roepke, Kotschevar gained a 6-0, 6-1 victory and she also posted a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Sioux Falls' Rachel Hussey at number two singles.
In play at number one doubles along with partner Cassandra Brown, Kotschevar scored an 8-6 win over Minnesota State's Shealyn Bakke and Brandi Dohmen. Against Minnesota Crookston's number one doubles pair of Katelyn Johnson and Catherine Brown, Kotschevar and Brown scored an 8-1 win. To cap the week, Kotschevar and Brown defeated Sioux Falls' Molly Seigenthaler and Alison Kauss by an 8-2 tally on April 6 at number one doubles. Kotschevar is 14-8 in singles play this season for the Huskies and she is 13-6 at first doubles along with partner Cassandra Brown.
The Huskies currently own a 15-9 overall record and are 9-1 in NSIC play this season. The Huskies will play two key NSIC matches this weekend with a dual at Winona State on April 12 and a dual against Upper Iowa on April 13 (in Winona).
