St. Cloud, Minn. - Members of the St. Cloud State University Student Athletic Training Association (SATA) would like to thank all of those who helped to recognize the profession of athletic training this March.
Students in SATA got together to test their athletic training knowledge and skills in a competitive game of jeopardy and a challenging relay race filled with tasks that all athletic trainers must master. Tasks included an ankle taping race, three legged flexi-wrap race, a spine board race, a 10-gallon cooler carry, and an ice bag relay.
“I think our club successfully raised awareness about athletic trainers while having fun and exciting club events," said SATA's student president Ben Johnson.
Throughout the month of March student athletes were able to express their gratitude for their athletic trainer by filling out a small thank you card or by purchasing an “I love my athletic trainer” bracelet.
SATA members worked hard to share information about the profession at a booth in Atwood as well by inviting SCSU students, staff, faculty, and community members to guess how many tape rolls were in the bin. Daily winners received a Gatorade bottle just like the ones seen at SCSU athletic events with one drawing for the grand prize, which was a WCHA Championship t-shirt, signed by members of the SCSU Men's Hockey team.
“I look forward to next years National Athletic Training Month. Raising awareness won't stop just because the month of March is over as we will continue to spread the word," says Johnson.
We hope that you will continue to show gratitude for your athletic trainers and join them next year for National Athletic Training Month.
