Luke Weber Claims NCAA National Championship in 3-Meter Diving

Birmingham, Ala. – St. Cloud State University senior diver Luke Weber (Mankato) has won an NCAA Division II National Championship in three-meter diving.
Weber posted a score of 563.80 for the national title and became the third male diver in school history to win a national championship. He posted a score of 71.40 on this third dive.
“It was great to see Luke win his first national championship and to win it on the last dive was exciting,” said head coach Jeff Hegle.
Weber has competed in the NCAA Championships four straight years and with this win has seven All-American finishes.

Fellow senior Chris White (Rochester) a two-time national diving champion placed sixth on the three-meter board with a score of 522.65. White also earned the seventh All-American honor of his career.
In other final events today sophomore Alex Bryson (Appleton, Wis.) earned his first All-American honor with a sixth place finish in the 1000 freestyle. He posted a school record 9:14.15, an SCSU school record.
The women's 200 medley relay of Erin Hart, Abby Rasmussen, Steph Crandall and Kelsey Leeson posted an eighth place All-American finish with a time of 1:43.92.
“It was a great way to start the national championships,” Hegle said. “Alex set a school record today to get us started and the women's 200 medley set a school record in the finals.”

Other finishes today for the Huskies included a 21st place finish for Kellyn Craig in the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:06.62. Three women swam the 50 free with Steph Crandall placing 20th in a time of 23.72. Ali Domeier finished in 44th with a time of 24.14 and Kelsey Leeson was 47th in 24.18.
