St. Cloud, Minn. - The National Athletic Training Association (NATA) has designated this as a month to celebrate the profession of athletic training as athletic training professionals, and prospective professionals work to keep active people and athletes healthy.
In celebration of Athletic Training Month the Student Athletic Training Association (SATA) at St. Cloud State University are planning an event to raise awareness of the profession and the academic program here at SCSU. Both full-time athletic trainers, the graduate assistant athletic trainers, as well as student athletic trainers contribute greatly to the healthcare and athletic success of SCSU athletics teams.
Students of SATA are participating in a number of activities to celebrate the profession. Beginning Monday, March 4 athletes may fill out a gratitude post card on "Why you love your athletic trainer". These will be posted around the Halenbeck Hall Athletic Training Room for the duration of the month.
Also beginning on Monday, students can get their very own "I <3 my Athletic Trainer" wrist bands for $2 apiece. They can be purchased in the Halenbeck Hall Athletic Training Room, or from any SATA student.
On March 18-22 from 11a.m. to 1p.m. in Atwood the students of SATA would like to invite all students, staff/faculty, and community members to participate in guessing how many tape rolls are in a container. Each participant will receive a small hand out providing information about the profession in general as well as the athletic trainers specifically at SCSU. Winning entries have the chance to win great prizes!
SCSU Athletic training students will also be going to TRIA to observe an orthopedic surgery. This event gives students the unique opportunity to witness amazing and advanced medical practices that allow an athlete's return to activity after sustaining a serious injury.
So thank your athletic trainer for all of their hard work and dedication not only in March but everyday.
