THE DAWN OF A NEW SEASON
The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (17-17-5, 12-12-4 WCHA in 2011-12) will open its 2012-13 season on Oct. 12-13 with a pair of games at non-conference rival New Hampshire. The games will be played at Towse Rink at the Whittemore Center (6,501 cap./200x100) on the UNH campus in Durham, N.H...the game on Oct. 12 will start at 6:30 p.m. (Central Time) and the game on Oct. 13 will start at 6:00 p.m. (Central Time).
LISTEN LIVE: Fans can listen to the games live on KNSI FM 103.3 or AM 1450. Don Lyons, the voice of Husky Hockey, will be making the call live from UNH this weekend. You can also listen online at www.knsiradio.com
WATCH LIVE: The SCSU-UNH game on Oct. 12 will be televised live on Fox College Sports Pacific. You can watch this in the St. Cloud area on Charter Cable Channel 418 or DirecTV channel 623. The game on Oct. 13 will not be televised on FCSP.
LIVE VIDEO STREAMING: Both games at UNH will be available for live video streaming in HD at www.UNHWilcats.tv
The cost to watch is $9.95 per game.
HUSKIES BY THE NUMBERS:
26 This marks the start of the 26th season of NCAA Division I hockey at St. Cloud State University. SCSU first played organized intercollegiate hockey in 1931-32 and then moved to the NCAA DI level in 1987-88. SCSU has won 930 games as a college hockey program since 1931.
8 SCSU head coach Bob Motzko begins his 8th season behind the bench at his alma mater. A 1987 grad of SCSU, Motzko owns a 137-109-34 career record with the Huskies.During the Bob Motzko era at SCSU, the Huskies have advanced five times to the WCHA Final Five and this includes visits in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012. His teams have also earned NCAA bids in 2006, 2007 and 2010.
7-3-1 SCSU ended its 2011-12 season in top fashion as the Huskies scored an impressive 7-3-1 record during the months of February and March. This stretch included a two-game sweep at Wisconsin, a win and tie against #2 Minnesota Duluth and the sweep of Nebraska Omaha in the WCHA playoffs.
